It's all about the elements!
Mark and Carmen have been incorporating the 4elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water into their designs for 19 years. Aware of the beauty and harmony they created within their own gardens, they decided to share their talents with others. They were featured in the 2011 Master Gardeners Tour, Windsor Area Garden Walk, and variety of other garden tours.
The passion grown from their gardens has transformed into a vivid love of art. Mark and Carmen visit as many art museums as possible from MN to Chicago, NYC, and FL, empowering their creative sensibilities. They also attend art classes in metal work, painting, carving, and sculpture whenever they can. Their endeavors have allowed classic inspiration to be met with modern techniques in the form of exquisite Earthbowls and Containers. Each is a one of a kind creation that can be designed by the artist alone or formed from the careful consideration of a client’s request.
Mark is a Certified Master Gardener and Carmen has a degree in art. Together, they are each other’s best support and critic. It just makes sense that they are the perfect couple in marriage as well as in gardening.
About Carmen: After 19 years of being a full-time therapist, Carmen is finally able to use her art degree. She has always wanted to do something edgy, challenging, beautiful, and yet be very different and marketable. She loves nature and texture and found a creative way to combine the two within Earthbowls.Carmen uses a variety of techniques, i.e. slab pottery, and knowledge of throwing pots on a wheel is a must. She also uses carving, sculpting, and metal work skills. It’s inspiring to her that people are enjoying her true passion for art.
About Mark: As a Certified Master Gardener, Mark has had a significant role working at local area greenhouses over the past seven years. He is able to design fantastic works of art, incorporating the 4elements, on both a large and small scale. Recently, his ambition has turned to the creation of botanical containers. From soil to stature, Mark makes sure each vessel is kept vibrant and inventive with the change of the seasons. Fueled by educated artistry, he creates the perfect container for any space. It’s no wonder his ingenious designs are displayed in businesses, hotels, corporations and residential throughout the Madison area. Taking his gardening abilities to a whole new level, Mark's containers are always a far greater vision than what his clients expect.
